Edition of 31
Banksy’s creation, NOLA, or Umbrella Girl, emerged in the Marigny neighborhood of New Orleans, USA, as a direct response to the catastrophic aftermath of hurricane Katrina. The mural was part of a series of 14 artworks that alluded to the natural disaster's impact on the city in 2005. The title "NOLA" is an endearing reference to the city's nickname. The initial signed print of NOLA was released in 2008, limited to 289 signed copies. The image depicts a young girl standing in a downpour, clutching an umbrella. In a characteristic Banksy twist, the girl's outstretched hand finds that the umbrella is the source of the rain rather than a shield against it.Among the various editions of NOLA, the first release featured white raindrops. Subsequent larger editions comprised 63 prints with grey rain. Among these, 32 prints featured neon orange rain, while another 31 rendered the precipitation in neon yellow. Concurrently issued were 66 artist proofs featuring multicolored rain. Each print is numbered and bears the artist's signature. NOLA has since become one of Banksy's most sought-after prints.
