*Dancer 2 cutout* (2020) is a cutout from shaped powder-coated aluminum, printed the same on each side with uv-cured archival inks, clear coated and mounted to a 3/8 inch aluminum base by Alex Katz, measuring 29 x 21 x 3 in ; 73.7 x 53.3 x 7.6 cm. Edition of 60. This work belongs to Katz's Dancers series, inspired by his decades-long collaboration with choreographer Paul Taylor. The body in motion becomes in Katz's hands a graphic event — flat planes of colour and precise outlines capturing a moment of extension, balance, or transition. Alex Katz (b. 1927, Brooklyn, New York) is one of the most significant American figurative artists of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries.
