About the Series
Beyond the Bloom series, Barnes produces original paintings across a range of subjects and formats that demonstrate the breadth of his figurative practice. These works — portraits, figure studies, and compositions that depart from the botanical environments of the Bloom series — reveal the underlying technical rigour and observational precision that gives all his work its distinctive quality.
The Paintings series represents Barnes's most experimental output: works where he tests formal ideas outside the established framework of the Bloom paintings, producing pieces that are often more intimate in scale and more direct in their engagement with the figure.
