Lands End By Jasper Johns
Description
Lands End By Jasper Johns
This piece is an homage to the poet Hart Crate, who committed suicide by jumping off the side of his boat. The hand print in the upper right corner refers to Crate’s death, who reached his hand out of the water. The title of the piece also refers to Johns’ separation from artist Robert Rauschenberg, alluding to feelings of loss and change within his own life.
