Now On View at Guy Hepner: Market Price, Russell James and Virginia Broersma
The Market Price Gallery includes a figure shrouded in mystery and prefers to meet his fans and patrons directly. Done by hand and without the help of assistants, his paintings take over 100 hours to create and feature ironic interpretations of pop culture. The artist’s favorite motifs include the Dober Fin (half Doberman, half fish), the Hibiscus flower and Dom Perignon bottles.
Paintings from Virginia Broersma’s Knockout Collection decorate the entrance of the gallery evoking the importance of paint as the purest form of media. Depicting the female figure in an uncharacteristically grotesque manner, Virginia Broersma’s works pay homage to Francis Bacon while sparking their very own imaginative play on how beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Rounding out the show is famed fashion photographer Russell James whose New York exhibition includes all black and white snapshots of Victoria’s Secrets ANGELS feature Adriana Lima, Miranda Kerr and Kendall Jenner. The poetry of the female nude is matched only by James’s technical power with the camera. Only he is able to capture the world’s most beautiful women in ways they have never before been seen.
