Cosmic Cowboy: Colorful Rebels with a Creative Cause

Chrissie and Stevie, the creative duo behind Cosmic Cowboy, have built a universe infused with recurring child-like heroes they’ve imagined when they were just kids themselves. Today they reshape these moody yet likable heroes into ‘warriors’ not to be messed with. Influenced by street art, animation and cartoons, the duo’s work is characterized by simple drawings, recognizable shapes, recurring characters, and movement, outlined in black and often filled with bright colors.

Born in the Netherlands and Belgium, Chrissin and Stevie have been coloring outside of the lines their entire lives and careers as natural born storytellers. Rebels with a cause and hoping to bring a little more positivity to the world through painting, the two note they “want to spread feel-good energy throughout every inch of our galaxy”. 

The imaginative world they create helps the duo to escape from everyday realities, letting the characters walk through life with questions about the world weighing on their mind all whilst looking at life with wonder and optimism. Through an imaginary dreamworld, Cosmic Cowboy tries to bring people together to reflect on a world where the social and environmental landscape becomes increasingly challenging by the day. Escaping our daily reality is one of the main creative engines for Cosmic Cowboy to continue to create works that embody a multitude of landscapes, concepts and emotions. 

Their latest series titled “You Better Run”, releasing exclusively with Guy Hepner and Guy Hepner Editions on September 1st on our online shop, features familiar characters in new settings and scenarios. Included in the release is our first print edition with the artist duo, “You Better Run”, presented in a limited edition of 25 +5Aps sized at 20 x 20 inches.
