White Series by the Ultravelvet Collection
White Series by the Ultravelvet Collection
The White Collection by Ultravelvet Collection focuses on the tendency of fashion brands to dominate global tastes and of course the flow of currency in contemporary culture.
After splitting with partner Hajjar, Rose has been creating new works on plexi glass mainly highlighting the topic of transparency: what it means to be transparent, to be as open and one’s truest nature as possible. Rose is an avid meditator and completed her teacher training in Bali of 2012. Part of the draw to get Rose to go to Bali and remove herself entirely from the world for 3 months was hearing that the Beatles had also embarked on the same type of course in the late 60’s with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. When they returned they created, the first album they recorded was “The White Album”. Feeling liberated once abandoning a foolish and unnecessary attraction to material goods, Rose felt renewed and reconciled with a pure approach to universal morality which guided the spirit of this collection.
Los Angeles based artist Meredith Rose is the creator of the extraordinary Ultravelvet collection. Work is produced on 120mm film using a pinhole style camera from the 1960’s.The haunting complexity of these images, beautifully defaces society’s obsessions with a signature use of vivid color and pop art imagery detailed by hand. Meredith Rose draws in all viewers with the haunting complexity of these pieces.
