In My Stairwell is a series of celebrity photographs shot by Mark Seliger in a stairwell in an abandoned elevator shaft in his Manhattan studio. During the remodeling of Seliger’s New York studio an old elevator was disassembled and removed, leaving an empty shaft. To Seliger’s delight, a 20 x 30 foot skylight topped this empty elevator shaft. Seliger began photographing sessions in the space as often as possible, creating powerfully iconic black and white images. Many of these celebrity photographs have been published in GQ, Vanity Fair and other publications.
