May 08th, 2009
World renowned artist Andy Warhol, known best for turning mundane images into iconic pop art, enjoyed a highly successful career throughout the 1950’s until the 1980’s. During this time period he created a collection of art called “Mao,” which has recently become available through Guy Hepner.
This influential collection includes a series of silkscreened portraits of the Chinese Communist leader Mao Zedong, produced in 1973.
Warhol is best known for his celebrity portraits including Marilyn Monroe and Elvis Presley and for his for his Campbell’s Soup prints, as well as his numerous films and quotes which are still extremely popular today. Warhol now has his own museum displaying many of his works, in his hometown of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
