As the worlds of celebrity and fashion have merged in the past decade, the demand on the skill set of the photographer has broadened enormously. You must be able to manage outrageous personalities and egos or alternately help a celebrity feel secure on set whilst keeping in mind that music or acting, not modeling for pictures, is their real talent. The personality factor is a category five storm whilst production logistics become equally complicated. Ofted limited by tight time constraints created by overbooked celebrities or supermodels, you still have to carefully consider that the clothing or product is being properly shown. And add in the variables of shooting on a mountain, underwater or another extreme location and you must adhere to the golden rule: pre-planning is everything. It's part people management, part military operation and 100% being able to put one's own ego aside completely. The shoot itself should appear to be short and sweet to anyone who doesn't see the days of pre-panning that it takes to get the shot you need.
